Mona Lisa Smile T-Shirt from Be Positive

Be Positive Mona Lisa t-shirtFunny Mona Lisa T-shirt

I just got an email from Vangelis (awesome name!) about a new brand called Be Positive. Though the brand name makes it pretty obvious, their t-shirts are all about, well, being positive. I checked out the store and the first tee I saw ended up being my favorite. It shows the famously emotionless Mona Lisa with a smiley emoticon super-imposed over her face. It’s a pretty goofy concept, and it’s good to see Mona finally smiling more openly. I dig it.

You can purchase this design from Be Positive for $21.90. They use Spreadshirt for their printing and fulfillment so you can do a little customization if you so desire.

I’m Giving Away 14 Threadless Gift Certificates Over 14 Days–Birthday Bonanza!

Birthday

My 21st birthday is coming up on September 20th. This is a big deal for me, so I wanted to celebrate with all my awesome troundup readers. Therefore, I cooked up this little promotion. Every day for the next two weeks, I will give away one $25.00 Threadless  gift certificate (14 total!). I will be doing my giveaways mostly through the troundup Facebook page, although I might do some on the actual blog or Twitter. On my actual birthday (September 2oth), I’ll be upping the ante with a $100.00 Threadless gift certificate. So, I’m giving away a total of fourteen Threadless gift certificates over the next two weeks. Follow me on Twitter and like me on Facebook to keep abreast of all the action!

I’ll also give you a Threadless gift certificate if you buy me a present. How does this work, you ask? I’ve created an Amazon wishlist of items in the $10-$18 range. Yes, a few cost as little as $10! If you buy me one of these items, you’ll get a $25.00 Threadless gift certificate. So just buy an item from the list (Amazon will let you automatically ship it to me), and then shoot me an email (no surprises unfortunately!) and I’ll get you your gift! I need to expand my vinyl collection so hopefully some people will have an interest in this!

Happy Birthday Bonanza, everyone! Any donations of libations are always appreciated.

That’s What She Said T-Shirt: A New Take from Headline Shirts

That's what she said t-shirtThat's what she said shirt

Headline Shirts is starting a nice little line of shirts with outlandish and made up quotes from respected literary masters. Their “Shakespeare: This Shit Writes Itself” t-shirt is a classic, and now they added Mr. Mark Twain to the list. Mark Twain makes quite a few appearances on “top quotes” lists, but I doubt this little statement would make such compilations. Apparently Twain had a slightly more immature side, and was known for his epic “that’s what she saids”. I don’t think this one is as funny as the Shakespeare quote, but I definitely still enjoyed it. I hope they continue to make more of these designs,  as I love the juxtaposition between respected writers and ridiculous quotes. I imagine you’d get quite a few confused stares if you wore this shirt around.

If you share my like for this concept and want to pick up the design, it will cost you $24.00 at Headline Shirts. We’ve also got a Headline Shirts coupon code, which should save you some solid money if you’re buying two or more shirts. As with all of Headline Shirts’ designs, you should definitely check out the product description–they’re often quite hilarious.

Starburns, a Community TV T-Shirt from NBC

Community has quickly become one of my favorite TV shows (of both cancelled and active shows), so I had to post this shirt. I actually first saw this shirt on a Community writer in a behind-the-scenes clip, which caused me to instantly look it up. Starburns is a character from the show who has trimmed his sideburns to look like, well, stars. This shirt probably isn’t at all funny if you’re not familiar with the show, but…if you are a fan of the show, I hope you enjoy it. Also, if you’re not already a fan of the show, you should watch a few episodes, get hooked, and become a fan. Then you can enjoy this shirt. Their most recent episode, a paintball spaghetti western, is off the chain hilarious. You probably need to be familiar with the characters to get its full effect, though.

If you wanna pick up this Starburns shirt, you can nab it for $25.00 from the NBC Store. Show ya luv for Community!

Evil Scream from A Better Tomorrow

I hinted about this shirt yesterday on Twitter. I wasn’t exaggerating, this is definitely one of my favorite designs, and one of the best I’ve seen in a while.

This shirt is, of course, based on the existential hard-on of a painting that is Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” (that sound kind of mean…I like The Scream). Ben Chen, the artist of the shirt, reproduces Munch’s painting within the world of Batman. The Joker replaces the “screamer,” and Batman replaces the people in the background of the original painting. Ben then added a bunch of small references–the cards, the bat signal–that you should check out in the detailed product pictures on the A Better Tomorrow site.

I really, really like this shirt. I love how unique it is, and I think Ben executed the design perfectly. It’s got that “it factor”–as soon as I saw it, even though the Euro exchange rate makes it incredibly expensive, I had to have it. This shirt is the bomb.

If you agree, you can pick it up for 22 Euro from the German shop A Better Tomorrow.

Elvis Meets Vader from Headline Shirts

So…this shirt is amazing. If you don’t know, this is based on a (famous?) picture of Nixon and Elvis shaking hands (see the original below), only with Nixon replaced with Darth Vader. Obviously, given how Nixon’s presidency turned out, the substitution is pretty hilarious. I like that it works on two levels–first, it’s funny for people who don’t know the original picture because it’s, well, Elvis and Darth Vader shaking hands. But for those who do know the picture, it’s even more humorous, as well as pretty dang political (if you want it to be).

I think this is one of my favorite Headline Shirts designs (and I like a lot of their shirts, so that actually means something). If you want this sweetness on your chest, you can buy it for $20.00 on American Apparel at their store. I also think the coupon I had for them is still working if you wanna check that out. I hope you enjoyed! Oh, read their product descriptions while you’re at the site–they’re often hilarious, and you’re missing out if you skip them.

I Spoon First Dates from People Like Me

I dig this somewhat goofy, yet rather honest shirt from People Like Me! The world could use some more spooning, among a few other things. I’m not sure how it would play out on an actual first date, but I figure it’s worth a try. Maybe you’ll get some hot, steamy, spoon action.

You can pick this one up for $28.00 from People Like Me! Also, as they say in their product description…spooning can lead to forking (tehe (coy laugh)).
