Back in early November (yeah, I’m slow), I got an email about a new t-shirt from a guy named Brett Amory, available at INDVSL. I dug the shirt, put it away in the “to be reviewed” folder, and then promptly forgot about it. I’ve finally rediscovered it tonight, and I would like to share it with you guys. I really like the “blurry” style (what’s the real name for that, art history majors?), and I love that the design isn’t centered on the t-shirt. It makes it more interesting for some reason.

You can grab Waiter #13 at the INDVSL store for $28.00. INDVSL’s slogan, in case you’re wondering, is “wear art. not ads”. That’s certainly a slogan worthy of your attention.

While this shirt is a bit of a departure from most of the designs I post on troundup, I nonetheless dig it very much. Much like Tom Haverford’s fascination with “the shapes” on Parks and Recreation, I find myself thoroughly enjoying these stripes. Something about them just attracts me. It makes me feel like I’m swaddled in a cacoon of plush love (ok, maybe a bit hyperbolic. It’s close though). I dunno–I think the designer just has his or her shapes down. It’s cool stuff.

I know it’s been awhile since my last post, and for that I apologize, and shamelessly blame mid-terms.

I’m happy to submit this relatively new release from RandR though. I love how they’ve managed to incorporate their name, but at the same time it’s so unobtrusive that I didn’t even notice it until I looked closer at the shirt. I think how they did the R + R just looks plain cool too, which is mainly how I feel about the design as a whole. It just goes well together, and grey and white always looks cool.

You can pick it up for $25 at RandR. It’s printed on an American Apparel V-neck, which is kind of unique, as you don’t find many v-necks, nor do I post many.

Beauty in simplicity. As the title suggests, the design is comprised entirely of rain drops and rhombuses, which are put together in an excellent fashion to form an excellent shirt. This is the first of a series from Joseph Mueller at Plink Design. I’m definitely looking forward to whatever comes next! You can check out the shirt here.

PS. Interesting fact about Joseph: He rode his bike across the country after college. That’s real cool. I’d like to do that.

“Bird by bird.” “Show don’t tell.” Melvin is a literal interpretation of the streaming conscious. It is an ink drawing on paper that has adapted nicely to the t-shirt medium. Its position on the shirt invites visual curiosity.

I really like the illustration on this one–Melvin looks really cool. His “streaming conscious” is also cool looking, and is an interesting concept for a shirt. I’m really glad they went with a wrap around print for this one, because if it was all on the front of the shirt it would not be nearly as effective. I just wish I could find a little more zoomed in view of what he’s thinking about.

Rhetoric prints on their own unique blanks, which usually means they’re really comfortable (although I’ve yet to try one, so I can’t 100% make that claim–it’s just an educated guess). Check it out!

Here’s a shirt from a company, Paper Back Clothing, that I’ve never written about before. I came upon them through Rumplo, and I’m really glad I did, because they’ve got some sick designs going on over there. There are a bunch I like–I just decided to write about this one because it was one of my top favorites. I love the blue and green color scheme on it, as well as the geometry and idea behind the shirt, which, quoting them, is “Infinite space…. need i say more?”.

Rise and Resist (or RandR, I’m not sure which they prefer) have been pumping out some really great designs every week. Before they were a little hit and miss with me, but now I seem to be getting hit fairly constantly–let’s hope I don’t bruise (sorry about that one, it’s bad, I know). I’m not entirely sure what, or if there even is a background story to this shirt, I just think it looks dang cool.

I don’t know why this one caught my eye (I rhyme), as it’s seemingly just a random pattern of swipes, but it looks pretty damn cool. You can get it on other colors which also look equally cool, this one was just my favorite. It will run you $32 at HomeRoom Clothing.

I can’t stand black shirts (I get really hot in them if there’s any sun/light around), but these two from Imaginary Foundation almost make me forget about that – especially the second one. Maybe someday they’ll print these on dark blue or something (hint hint), but until then, I urge all you people who don’t dislike black shirts to pick these up. Violent Elegance has some pretty sweet shirts, especially if you’re into geometry. As you can see, the designs are simple (circles, triangles and squares). But simple isn’t bad, they look really cool. It’s the fade that makes the shirts. They have some colorful versions, but I think the white and black is definitely the best looking.
