If you’re a nerd like me, you’re probably familiar with the huge Digg scandal yesterday over the recently cracked HD-DVD Key. If you’re not a nerd, you probably have no idea what I’m talking about. Basically, the number allows copies of HD-DVDs to be made. Digg initially tried to censor the number, but Kevin Rose of Digg later recanted and allowed the number to be posted.
We Are Loved is a small project run by Barak Hardley. Instead of describing the company and what it stands for, I thought I’d just post up the well done clip above explaining the background and meaning behind the company and its name. They currently have four shirts up, which are sold through Merchline. Expect some reviews of their shirts in the coming days.
As seems to be the norm, out of this week’s Threadless t-shirts there are two that I really like. One is a reprint of a great shirt, while the other is a brand new tee.
Reach For The Stars
I actually came across this shirt yesterday. As soon as I saw it, I was hoping for a reprint. I don’t know how it happened, but I’m certainly glad my wish got answered in such an expedient fashion. I just hope I can afford all these new Threadless tees I want.
I don’t have time for a long post (it’s late), but I just wanted to stop in quick and post this God Le$$ America t-shirt from Lucky Threadz. The shirt features a healthy dose of politics from one of my favorite designers, Tom Burns. Background from the site,
Shopping Malls, Wal-Mart, Family Dollar, The Home Shopping Network, Strip Malls, Beverly Hills, Pampers, Huggies, Luxury Automobiles, Gucci, Bed Bath and Beyond, blah blah blah. The fucking list goes on! Spend America - Spend! Get your fat asses into that store and SPEND!
While a little expensive, I really like this tee from Young Lovers. Here’s the inspiration behind the shirt summed up in one sentence, “Death to Arms and the worldwide arms race.” Another cool thing is that all their shirts are limited editions, as of now, only 100 prints of each shirt are made. Regarding what they print on, this is what I found, “All of our tees are made with the finest combed, ringspun 100% cotton.” They also offer a perfect fit guarantee, so you can always mail it back (at your expense) and get a new size if it doesn’t fit right.
Price: $39.00 | Young Lovers (scroll down for shirt)
Tank Theory just released a couple new shirts, one of which is this one, the Greatest Show on Earth. From the site,
Its a constant political and mental battle everyday everywhere on earth. Wars are being fought and operations being launched. Blood, black, blue, red and white, its an orgy of ravenous rulers fighting for domination over black goo and making this truly the Greatest Spectacle on Earth.
Like most Tank Theory tees, the design quality is excellent. I wish they would’ve printed this one in slim fit style though. They have the price listed, so maybe they’re still coming. There’s no way the slim fits are sold out already, considering t this tee was just released.
Also, Tank Theory is running a $15 sale on some of their t-shirts. I think it’s just to clear out stock, as none of my favorite designs are on sale, but they’re still good designs at a cheap price.
While this tee may share a title with the Foo Fighter’s awesome song, there’s no actual relationship. Regardless, it’s still a kick ass shirt. The shirt is actually inspired by Edward Abbey’s famous environmentalist book, The Monkey Wrench Gang (which I’ve never read). As I said before (I think), I love how all their shirts have actual meaning/inspiration behind them.
On to some of the more physical details, Spraygraphic prints on 100% cotton, sweatshop free t-shirts. Also, the body style is form fitting, which means it stays close to the body (aka. it’s comfortable, at least for me).
James Applegath of Defunkd is auctioning off 20 vintage Live Aid t-shirts for charity. 100% of the profits will be given to Africa Aid. Check this out, buy some cool shirts, and help people at the same time.
This t-shirt, Spiritual Warfare, from Black Sea Apparel has a pretty kick-ass design, and that’s why I like it. You can’t really see the design in the picture, but if you go here, you can see a closeup (its the one on the far left). Like most of the shirts I pick, this one is printed on an American Apparel tee.
I can’t link directly to the shirt, so you’ll have to fish around their site for a little.
I think the message of this shirt is pretty obvious, and that’s one of the reasons I like it. I also really like the design, although I wish it was slightly bigger so you could see more of the surfers. The tee is printed on 100% cotton American Apparel shirts, so quality and comfort are definitely there as well.
