Zamforia is a t-shirt/clothing company from the Boston area (Quincy, MA to be exact). They started out designing t-shirts that expressed “love” in different languages. They have since expanded a bit, with one of those expansions being this and a couple other band/music t-shirts. It’s a combination of their “love” theme with a tribute to Jimi Hendrix. I think the design looks great. There’s a lot going on, but it all pulls together well. The back of the shirt shows the sheet music to Hendrix’s “Bold as Love”, while the front has a ton of awesome stuff going on (go to the site to see it in greater detail). There’s also a tiny Michael Jackson hidden at the bottom.

Like Hendrix, I think this t-shirt rules. Check out all the product pictures while listening to Bold as Love. You can’t go wrong. The shirt will cost you $30 at Zamforia.

I’m a white college student, so I think i’m almost obligated to like Childish Gambino. With that aside though, I do enjoy a lot of his stuff, especially when he raps over Grizzly Bear. For some reason I like to listen to it while I work–I feel more productive, and that is a great feeling to have. Anyway, I thought I would share this Childish Gambino t-shirt with you guys ’cause it’s pretty cool. You’ve got “Childish Gambino” on the front, and a white silhouette of Donald Glover on the back. The back reminds me a bit of the Kid Cudi t-shirt I wrote about a while back–I think it’s pretty cool.

I’ve really been enjoying the Insound and Delicious Design band t-shirt collaboration. Therefore, when I saw their newest release was for a band I really like, I was super happy. The fourth installment of their collaboration is a great t-shirt for the band Smith Westerns, who hail from Chicago. Smith Westerns is one of the small number of modern bands I own on vinyl–I enjoy their first album that much. I’m going to be super happy to add this t-shirt to my collection as well. If you’re looking to a song to check out, I would recommend Be My Girl. It’s definitely one of my favorites from their discography.

So after all that textual praise of Smith Westerns, let’s talk about Insound and Delicious Design’s actual t-shirt. The design is called Ying-Yang Basketball, and if you look at it, that’s exactly what you’ll see. I’m not sure why they chose a ying-yang basketball (maybe I’m not up on my Smith Westerns biography and details), but I think the design comes off super cool and retro looking. I probably wouldn’t like these particular colors on most t-shirt designs, but I do like how they used it for this shirt. I think it came off great.

I was browsing around Sub Pop earlier today amassing an overflowing cart of awesome vinyl albums, when I came across this gem of a t-shirt. It’s got one of those wacky characters that I love so much. I also am a fan of the “down for life” slogan. I dunno, I just like it. This shirt was originally released at the Pitchfork Festival. Now, I may have a simmering dislike (I didn’t say hatred!) for Pitchfork, but that doesn’t mean I can’t dig this shirt. Plus, I love Sub Pop, and that’s the actual name on the t-shirt. I love them not only because their awesome lineup of bands, but because they still churn out really cool vinyl releases.

You can grab this design for $18.00 at the Sub Pop store. It’s printed on a white American Apparel 50/50 blend t-shirt. The designer is Ryan Duggan, from Chicago. I’m gonna try to find some more of his stuff–I’m hoping he designs t-shirts fairly regularly.

Sorry for the delay in posting–I’ve been travelling back and forth between houses and it’s slowed me down a bit. I’m back though, and ready to dive into things with renewed vigor! Doesn’t that sound fun? Anyway, I wanted to start with the third offering from the awesome Insound and Delicious Design collaboration project. If you haven’t heard, the collaboration creates unique and extremely limited edition t-shirts for various bands. This t-shirt is for the band Washed Out, who I’m not very familiar with. I’ve heard a few of their songs and remember liking them, but that’s about it. What’s more important though, is that I like the design and I like what Insound and Delicious Design are doing, so I’m going to support them. If you’re a fan of Washed Out, you should probably buy this shirt, because it’s awesome. It also supports a cool website, slangin’ the vinyl like it’s the 60s.

Even if I didn’t know this was a band t-shirt, I would still like it. The bullseye looks awesome, and I love how they have the “W” cutting through it. The design looks great! You can pick it up for $19.99 from the Insound store. Remember, the design is very limited, so they won’t be around forever, and you won’t see a bunch of strangers wearing it. This past weekend I attended the XPoNential Music Festival, right across the Deleware from Philadelphia in beautiful Camden, NJ (well…partially beautiful). One of the acts I saw was Jukebox the Ghost. After watching their awesome set, I checked out the merch tent by the stage and was incredibly impressed with the style and quality of their t-shirt designs. It’s like these things were made for my sensibilities. Anyway, after hanging around that merch tent I knew what was getting posted on troundup! Here are the two Jukebox the Ghost t-shirts they had at the show, both of which I really like.

This first one, Lineghost, is my favorite (although I really like both of them). I think it’s a bold move to not actually put the full name of the band on the shirt in text. It shows they care more about creating a shirt worthy of being worn than increasing their brand awareness. The design is simple and quirky and awesome. This is the second Jukebox the Ghost t-shirt from the show, and I also love it. It’s got a little more going on than the first one. Again, I love the style. The ghosts are just so simple and goofy looking–it’s great. You can also pick this one up for $15.00 from the merch store.

I recently posted about that awesome Best Coast t-shirt which came from Insound and Delicious Design’s collaboration project. That shirt was the first release from the duo of companies. Today, they’ve come back with a second release from another awesome band: The Walkmen. The Walkmen are a great band who I really enjoy. Funny story–I actually saw The Walkmen live twice at SXSW and XPN Festival before I ever actually listened to them. They put on a great show, and all their songs are quality. This, In the New Year, is probably my favorite song from them if you want a starting point.

As for the t-shirt design itself, I also dig that. It’s just got that simple yet creative flair that I enjoyed so much in the Best Coast shirt. I really like this newly released Best Coast t-shirt from Insound. It’s part of the newly started Insound + Delicious Design Project, which is really cool. Insound has partnered up with Chicago based Delicious Design. Together, they will create a unique t-shirt for six of their favorite bands from 2011. These shirts will be printed on American Apparel and only released in small, one-time batches. The Best Coast shirt is the first release from this awesome partnership.

As for the shirt itself, I love it. I haven’t been to California, but I imagine that this shirt holds some truth (or a lot of truth…). California is out there being all smiley and sunny while Pennsylvania is stuck with that frowny rain. I love the East coast, but California (and the West coast as a whole), still holds a particular allure to me.

Yellow Bird Project is a t-shirt website with an amazing concept–one of my favorite concepts, to be exact. First, Yellow Bird Project reaches out to a musical artist, Beach House in this case. The musical artist, Beach House, then designs a t-shirt to be sold on the Yellow Bird Project website. Pretty cool so far, right? It gets better though–Yellow Bird Project then donates the proceeds from the t-shirt to various charity projects. This is an incredible concept–you get music, art, t-shirts, and charity all combined in one cool site. The charity being donated to for this shirt is House of Ruth, a non-profit which helps victims of domestic abuse.

As I’ve mentioned, the musical artist who designed this shirt is Beach House, who are a really cool dream pop (love that label…) partnership from Baltimore. You should check them out–Used to Be is a particularly good song in my opinion. They’re also pretty good artists, as I legitimately like this crazy, pastel-colored trip of a house. You can pick this design up for $25.00 from Yellow Bird Project. It’s printed on American Apparel, and be sure to remember that the proceeds go to charity, which is a great thing.
