This post doesn’t serve much purpose other than highlighting three band shirts that I bought and am incredibly psyched to receive. Actually, I guess there is some small purpose, because sometime soon I’ll be digging through the plethora of shirts out there and picking my favorite for each (being Grateful Dead, The Beatles, and Bob Dylan–I wanted to buy some shirts from obscure bands). I usually try to buy shirts only from bands I’ve seen in concert, but that’s not easy with these dudes, although I did see Phil Lesh and Friends at Bonnaroo and almost saw Dylan. I’ve yet to get close to seeing The Beatles though (surprise!). So yeah, here are the three I bought, and expect more detailed posts for all of them soon. Sorry that the pictures are not the greatest quality.
The Beatles (you may have seen this one before).
I also bought a bunch of other shirts recently, including Dr. Dog (who I haven’t seen, but will be seeing in about a month), The Spinto Band, Ra Ra Riot (I have three of their shirts now!), and the Cold War Kids.
P.S. Can you tell I like tie-dye?
P.P.S. I really just wanted to post something regarding music. Be my friend on last.fm!
This shirt garnered a definitive chuckle from me. The text drew me immediately to that Flo Rida song (Oh hot damn, this is my jam–you know it), and obviously juxtaposing Flo Rida with the dude on the shirt makes for a funny image. I think the guy on the shirt also looks like the guy wearing the shirt in an odd way (anyone wanna back me up on that?).
You can grab this on American Apparel for $23.11 at MySoti. You can also pick a different type of blank to make it like $5 cheaper.
Sticking with yesterday’s theme of music, here’s a sweet shirt from Ubiquity, conveniently for sale at 80’s Purple. I say conveniently because 80’s Purple was also kind enough to offer me a coupon code for 25% off all t-shirts (minus sale ones)–that was pretty nice of them. Just use code troundup to get the discount.
I dig the division of the shirt, with the blank space above and vertical lines below–it looks great. The horn player himself also looks pretty rad. You can pick it up for $22 ($16.5 with the coupon) at 80’s Purple.
P.S. Check out the other Ubiquity shirt I featured awhile back–it’s still just as awesome as it was back then.
I was in Europe when this shirt dropped, otherwise this would have been posted a long time ago. This design is straight up excellent, as would be expected from mathiole (you’ve probably seen his stuff on Design by Humans). I love the lack of a head, and the foil is just fantastic. Long story short, I’m buying this shirt as soon as I publish this post.
You can grab this one for $18.00 at Shirt Fight. They print on American Apparel, and shipping is pretty cheap–only $2ish I believe.
Local Celebrity just recently released some pretty shweet Jimi Hendrix designs. I found it to be somewhat out of their usual style, but I’m very glad that they did it, given the aforementioned shweetness of the shirts. Out of my two favorites above, I think the Voodoo Child is my definitive first place winner. You can pick these two designs, and a third Purple Haze design, up at Local Celebrity. Also check out the Local Celebrity coupon page to see if they’ve released any in the future (I don’t think they have any coupons right now though).
I’m hoping to pick up Jimi Hendrix vinyls sometime soon as well–I figure they should be pretty awesome when I eventually find the means to play them.
I believe this is more or less from a Lil Wayne song, although feel free to correct me, because I’m not 100% on my Lil Wayne quotes. That being said, irregardless of its background, I think it’s a pretty sweet shirt. The focus is obviously on the text, which is a winner in my opinion, although the rest of the design complements it well. I don’t really think you need to know where this shirt comes from to enjoy, which is a definite positive.
Also, Local Celebrity shirts are really soft (another positive). It’ll run you $22 if you join the A-list (which is free and simple, so you might as well). Check back to see if there’s ever a working Local Celebrity coupon (preview of a new troundup feature too!).
I’m a big fan of Radiohead, especially after seeing them at Bonnaroo a couple years ago, which made me already inclined to post about this. I also love the style on this shirt, which solidified that inclination. I might be picking this one up–we’ll see.
It’s for sale for $9 for today only at Teefury.
If I hadn’t just spent a ton of money, I would so be buying this shirt right now, because it’s damn cool. It reminds me somewhat of Funkalicious from Threadless, but I think I like this one even more. The style of the astronaut combined with the color splash behind is excellently done.
This one will run you $23.97 at Palmercash, and may be joining my closet sometime soon.
