Threadless has just released an absolutely brilliant t-shirt in their recent batch of tees. It’s a combination of Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, and the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Neither are fans of letting people pass, so, were they to ever meet, it would result in an impasse, much like this shirt depicts. Kudos to Verso for thinking up this awesome design. It combines two great movies, and is also absolutely hilarious. It’s just a great design.

I don’t entirely love the execution of the design (I think they could have done it better), but I love the fact that it mocks Twilight (sorry Twilight fans! It’s not personal), and I still find the design pretty funny. It also very much preaches the truth–real vampires do not sparkle, they sleep during the day and do cool stuff at night. As I said, I think they could have designed the shirt more creatively, but I still like it.

Although I don’t follow comics that much, I assume Comic-Con is coming up in the near future. To celebrate, Threadless released some awesome comic themed shirts, that should appeal to both comic lovers and the broader populace. As I said, I’m not a huge comic fan, but I do dig these releases. They’ve also made it possible to buy the four main designs in a discounted 4-pack, which is pretty cool (and not something they do that often). The t-shirt in the top right is definitely my favorite.

I read Game of Thrones way back before there was an HBO series dedicated to it. In fact, it was one of my favorite fantasy series growing up. I don’t read much fantasy nowadays, but I did thoroughly enjoy HBO’s interpretation of Mr. Martin’s excellent story. I also enjoy Snorg Tees take on Game of Thrones’ rise to prominence. Despite the Lannisters being, well, major pricks, I still do enjoy this t-shirt. For those who don’t know, the Lannisters are an incredibly rich family, making this blinged out shirt very applicable, and very funny.

I was always a Star Wars kid growing up, and I never really enjoyed Star Trek all that much. Therefore, I very much like this t-shirt from 604 Republic. It’s called “Beam This!”, and has the ever-awesome Darth Vader throwin’ a powerful upper-cut against some poor chap from Star Trek. I think the symbolism is quite clear (if you’re a Star Trek fan, you’re probably never going to read my blog again. Sorry!).

I just got an email from Rob at GraphicLab about their cool new Star Wars themed t-shirt (Chewbacca to be exact). This design, titled Chew Toy, is a very quirky take on the Mos Eisley Cantina scene from Star Wars: A New Hope (I think I got that right). I believe the little toy Chewbacca is dragging around is Greedo, although it has been some time. Even if my details are possibly a bit fuzzy, I still think this is a fun and fan-specific Star Wars shirt. It’s also a bit goofy, which I always like.

If you dig Chewbacca’s Chew Toy and want to pick it up for yourself, it’ll cost you only $10.00 at GraphicLab. The shirt is only on sale until Sunday, and then it’s gone for good. The glorious reason for living that is Shark Week is almost upon us. In two days, Discovery Channel will be swimming (shitty pun…) in a metric ton of shark programming. Now, one could let last years disappointing Shark Week impostor (what the hell was that, Discovery? I want more than just shark attack shows) get in the way of their excitement. I will not do that though. I have faith that Discovery will get back on the horse and actually teach me about sharks. I wanna see sharks, not the same five people who got attacked by sharks. Plus, it gives sharks an undeserved bad rep. So, despite these lamentations, I will still muster up the excitement that Shark Week has commanded in the past. As such, I wanted to write this post up with just a few cool shark week t-shirts. If you order quickly enough you might be able to get them in time for the festivities.

This first one, Live Every Week Like It’s Shark Week from Jon Kruse at Mediocore Clothing, is most definitely my all-time favorite Shark Week t-shirt. It manages to combine two awesome things–Shark Week and 30 Rock–into one great t-shirt. I already own this tee, and I will be doing my best to wear it all week.

This second tee, A Day to Remember from Victory Records, also manages to bring in the 30 Rock quote. They also depict very well what Shark Week was last year–a bunch of Sharks chomping down on unsuspecting humans. I love the sheer carnage going on in this shirt. It’s officially my second favorite Shark Week shirt. It costs $20.00 and is printed on American Apparel.

I don’t like this design quite as much as the previous two shirts. Still, if you like sharks, you can show it with this shirt. It’ll run you $26.97 at Palmercash.

It’s surprisingly difficult to find good Shark Week t-shirts on the Internet. There is an abundance of crappy designs, but only a few good ones. If I missed a cool shark shirt please let me know. This post isn’t meant to be comprehensive or anything, but I’m always looking to add quality Shark Week tees to my posting catalog.

Maybe you haven’t heard (in that cave you’ve been living in), but the final Harry Potter movie comes out this weekend. It’s the end of my childhood. I was pretty much the perfect age to grow up with the Harry Potter books; and grow up I did. They will always hold a dear place in my heart just because of that connection: Harry grew up while I grew up. I’m going to try and put a bunch of shirts together for the movie release, but until then I thought I would post this bad boy from Tee Fury. It’s just a little goofy shoutout to Harry Potter. If you miss the joke: the shirt looks very much like one of those generic Abercrombie/Old Navy athletic shirts, but it’s Harry Potter.

I like the design, but I love Harry Potter: i.e. this design was destined to be posted no matter what. It’s being sold at Tee Fury, so you only have 24 hours to buy it. I posted a Community t-shirt back in May, and I thought that I would continue that trend since I really do like the show. The cleverness of the writing sometimes reminds me of Arrested Development (which I’ve been on a little kick of lately).

I came across this specific design while browsing around Snorg Tees. It features Greendale Community College’s incredibly outrageous attempt at eliminating the concept of race. The mascot stems from the Dean’s overwhelming desire to be 100% politically correct, but that’s a story you’ll have to get from the show. Anyway, I think it’s a good interpretation of what a Greendale Human Beings t-shirt might look like. As far as I know, this isn’t directly licensed, so I think Snorg Tees came  up with it themselves. I enjoyed it, though if you don’t watch the show you’ve probably already stopped reading by now out of boredom.
