I just got an email from Vangelis (awesome name!) about a new brand called Be Positive. Though the brand name makes it pretty obvious, their t-shirts are all about, well, being positive. I checked out the store and the first tee I saw ended up being my favorite. It shows the famously emotionless Mona Lisa with a smiley emoticon super-imposed over her face. It’s a pretty goofy concept, and it’s good to see Mona finally smiling more openly. I dig it.
You can purchase this design from Be Positive for $21.90. They use Spreadshirt for their printing and fulfillment so you can do a little customization if you so desire.
I was gone for the weekend and I have a test tomorrow, so I haven’t had much time to post (lame, I know). With that being said, I did want to post a brief mention for a pretty sweet tee I saw over on Rumplo. It’s called Creature from the Black Lagoon (maybe you’ve heard of it?) and comes from 410 BC as part of their limited stock reprint collection. I find the juxtaposition of the creature with the library and glasses pretty hilarious, and the titles of the books (on the shelf) add even more humor. It’s a quirky tee, but that’s why I like it.
You can grab this design for the fairly hefty price of $35.00 at 410 BC. This batch is printed in a small run of only 50 t-shirts, so it will probably go fairly fast. It’s a perfect t-shirt to wear while you’re lounging around the house during winter (unless you don’t get winters, and then you’re gonna have to find another use for it).
I just got an email from Brett about the launch of his new t-shirt brand, Why Because. Why Because uses words and phrases (and some images) to make you laugh from looking at a t-shirt. I’ll let Brett explain in more detail:
“My motivation to start the line came out of a love for clever wording and phrases. All of the first run of shirts are based around type. Although they won’t always be typed based, they will have a humor edge to them. There are a lot of great humorous shirt brands but I figured there was room for at least one more out there. I plan to achieve world peace through humorous t-shirts. I don’t think it’s too much to hope for.”
I dig the designs they’ve got up so far–many of them are those type of goofy puns that I enjoy so much. I picked my favorite of the six release shirts to show you. It’s called Dim Sum, and it made me chuckle the most out of all the Why Because designs.
Why Because is currently holding a pre-order sale, in which all their tees are only $15. The tees are printed on American Apparel (yay!) and will ship in early December. Go check them out!
I’m long overdue for posting about this awesome new partnership. Threadless has teamed up with UNICEF and a bunch of cool artists to create a whole line of t-shirts that help benefit those in need. The t-shirts, which range in price from $18.57 to $300,000 (yes…three hundred thousand dollars) are all the dollar amount required to donate a specific item. So if you bought the $18.57 shirt, you’d be donating a mosquito net, while the $36.10 t-shirt would donate de-worming tablets. Get the gist?
The actual designs on the t-shirts are drawings of something related to the item being donated. They’re simple designs, but cool in their own way.
I suggest that you check out all the different shirts they have to offer, and then pick one up and help some people in Africa at the same time. I know I’ll be using some built up STPs to purchase one of the more expensive shirts!
I was a little shocked, and very happy, when I opened Busted Tees’ new release newsletter earlier today. Why would they make a t-shirt based on show that got cancelled years ago? Well, I don’t know why, but I sure am glad they did it. Party Down, the show this design pulls its inspiration from, is a super funny and intelligent comedy that starred Mr. Adam Scott (who is currently bringing his humor to another great show, Parks and Recreation). In the show, He’s a failed actor famous for his embarrassing beer commercial slogan of, you guessed it, “Are We Having Fun Yet?!?” This shirt immortalizes those words for all of eternity, and ties in the signature Party Down bow-tie for good measure. I think this shirt is absolutely awesome and totally hilarious, though I understand you probably have to be familiar with the show to enjoy it as much as I do.
After you’ve plowed through both seasons of Party Down (conveniently available for instant streaming on Netflix), buy this shirt from Busted Tees for only $20.00, a small price to pay for the enjoyment it will bring to other Party Down fans. Needless to say (though I’m gonna say it anyway), this shirt will probably be a huge hit at parties and other events where beer is being consumed, as well as life in general. Also, remember to use a Busted Tees coupon to save some money.
So yeah, plop down on your couch and watch some Party Down–you won’t regret it.
As usual, Glennz is serving us up some witty hilarity. This one, entitled Water Bomb Squad, doesn’t require much explanation. It’s just the kind of goofy humor that I enjoy so much, and I’m hoping you enjoy as well. As usual, his illustrations are excellent and really allow the humor to shine. It’s just a great tee–which is what I’ve come to expect from Glennz.
The reason I chose to feature this design now is that it’s currently on the “Save Wave” at Glennz. What the “Save Wave” actually means can be easily answered by looking at the top of Glennz’s site, but for our purposes the only important thing to know is that this design is on sale for only $14.95. It’s only on sale for that low price for a limited time though, so don’t wait around and miss out. So yeah–pick up this hilarious t-shirt for only $14.95 at the Glennz site.
I really enjoy quality typography t-shirts, and from what I’ve seen so far, 8teeSix seems to deliver that. They just recently launched and currently have three designs out. The design I’ve featured is available in two colorways, so they’ve got a total of four shirts for sale. I think it’s a pretty creative type, and I like that it kind of looks like those peel-off Twizzlers (that’s probably not the right term, but whatever. I don’t know anything about art). Cool stuff.
You can grab this design, Life, for 20 Pounds (damn you exchange rate!) from 8teeSix. As usual, I invite you to check out their other designs as well. Enjoy!
Dire Brew is one craft beer I would love to get my hands on. It’s also a brilliant t-shirt from the people over at 604 Republic. I think it rivals the Damn it Feels Good to be a Lannister t-shirt I posted in the past as my favorite Game of Thrones t-shirt.
If you’re familiar with the Game of Thrones series (book or TV), you know that the Starks are a fairly bad-ass family from up North in Winterfell. Along with fighting other families, they’ve also started brewing their own Winter Lager called Direwolf (according to 604 Republic at least). I think the concept is great (I could see the Stark’s making beer), and the execution is even better. It looks 100% like a craft beer label, especially from afar. Once people get close they’ll notice the Game of Thrones reference and like it even more. Kudos to you, 604 Republic, for making a great t-shirt.
You can pick up your own Dire Brew t-shirt from the 604 Republic store. It will cost you a mere $19.95 for a six-pack (or t-shirt). I’ve also got a 604 Republic promo code which should lower your order by a solid 15%, making the design only about $17. Pick it up so you can wear it when Game of Thrones season 2 starts!
While this shirt is a bit of a departure from most of the designs I post on troundup, I nonetheless dig it very much. Much like Tom Haverford’s fascination with “the shapes” on Parks and Recreation, I find myself thoroughly enjoying these stripes. Something about them just attracts me. It makes me feel like I’m swaddled in a cacoon of plush love (ok, maybe a bit hyperbolic. It’s close though). I dunno–I think the designer just has his or her shapes down. It’s cool stuff.
You can pick it up for 22.90 Euro at Home is Where The Heart Is. The shirt would be coming to you from Germany.
P.S. I was bummed I couldn’t find the video of Aziz talking about the shapes on Parks and Recreation If anyone knows where to locate it please let me know.
