Aside from the soft-core porn advertisements, and general sense of drama that seems to always be hovering American Apparel, they make some of the most comfortable clothing out there in my opinion. I usually stick only to their awesome blank t-shirts, hoodies, and underwear as the rest of their stuff doesn’t appeal to me that much, but I love everything I’ve bought from them. All their t-shirt styles are great, and the colors are awesome, and unique as well. Colors like mint, lime, seafoam and many others are very, very cool. They’ve also got really cool retro style polos, which I’m a fan of. And lastly, their sweatpants are awesome for lounging around in winter.
American Apparel was founded way back in 1989 by the often maligned Dov Charney. Along with their somewhat hipster image, they are known for manufacturing all of their clothing in the United States at their vertically integrated Los Angeles factory (as their name suggests). This Made in the USA draw has been a key to their success. While American Apparel has been very successful since their 1989 beginnings, they have run into problems recently. Their have been rumors that the company is near to bankruptcy, as profits have been falling. Still, American Apparel is currently alive and kicking, and churning out awesome, comfortable clothing. You can order from one of their numerous retail locations, or find a broader catalog at their Internet store.
Many of the t-shirt companies use American Apparel blanks to print their designs on, so if you buy a lot of shirts, you’re probably acquainted with them. If you don’t own any American Apparel blanks, then I suggest you get shopping, because they’re something I think everyone should own. American Apparel make my second favorite t-shirt blanks, behind only Alternative Apparel (who are very similar).
